Puranava 2020 Milpitas - Heritage Fancy Dress

Grades: Pre-KG to 2nd Grade

Competition Guidelines:

  1. The competition is scheduled to take place at 10am in the morning.
  2. Participants must assemble by 9:45 am and check-in for the competition at the front desk.
  3. Kids need to be ready in their costume. No changing rooms available at the venue.
  4. Participants can speak for a maximum of 5 mins (hard limit) on his or her character.
  5. Sound tracks are not allowed
  6. Kids can make vocal sounds, actions, use gestures and expressions during narration.
  7. Participants will be judged on the following:
    1. Character portrayed - Authenticity of the character (Is it in line with what is mentioned in Indian scriptures?)
    2. Creativity
    3. Presentation skills
  8. Fancy dress is a solo competition
  9. Decision of the judges will be final

Kids can choose to represent any one of the avatars of Vishnu, as mentioned in Indian scriptures, from the list below:

Kids need to say the name of the  avatar they are dressed up as and need to introduce the avatar to everyone with an apt narration..

The narration can be in active/ passive voice or both. Kids can include any quotes/songs/slokas if they like to. Judging will however be based on:

  • Character portrayed - Authenticity of the character (Is it in line with what is mentioned in Indian scriptures?)
  • Creativity
  • Presentation skills

Kids need to say the name of the  Pandarpur Bhakta they are dressed up as and  need to introduce the bhakta to everyone with an apt narration.

Pandarpur bhaktas have composed numerous ‘Abhangs’ in Marathi glorifying Lord Panduranga. Kids can also choose to render an Abhang composed by the Pandarpur Bhakta they depict.  Please note that that Abhang rendition is truly optional. 

The narration can be in active/ passive voice or both. Kids can include any quotes/abhangs/slokas if they like to. Judging will however be based on:

  • Character portrayed - Authenticity of the character (Is it in line with what is mentioned in Indian scriptures?)
  • Creativity
  • Presentation skills
